About The Position

Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 15, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 hours PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period. Under the direction of the Food Administrator I/II, Correctional Facility (CF) or the supervision of the Supervising Correctional Cook, DOC, the Correctional Supervising Cook, CF, supervises and trains staff and the incarcerated workers responsible for preparing meals for patients in a correctional health care facility and oversees the preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets per physician orders. Ensures staff and the incarcerated workers follow all departmental and institutional policies and procedures including, Title 15, Department Operations Manual, California Code of Regulations Title 22, Standard Operational Procedures, Diet Manual, California Retail Food Code, and Food & Nutrition Services Manual. The Correctional Supervising Cook, CF supervises the cleaning and sanitation of the kitchen facility and equipment. Maintains order and supervises the conduct of the incarcerated and protects and maintains the safety of persons and property.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Cook Specialist II (Correctional Facility) or a Cook Specialist II.
  • Two years of experience in a supervisory capacity over cooks and other food service workers with responsibility for supervising and assisting with the preparation, cooking, and serving of various food items.
  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • To obtain list eligibility for the CORRECTIONAL SUPERVISING COOK (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY), before applying for the position, you must first take and pass the examination
