About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in Admissions and Release. The mission of the Admissions and Release section in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to manage the intake and release processes of inmates in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess experience auditing sentencing data and/or calculating release dates.

Responsibilities

  • Document Auditing: Audit commitment documents to determine the applicability of case law, statutes, and legal advice for accurate sentence structure.
  • Data Accuracy: Review and adjust online sentencing provisions, manually compute jail time credits, and ensure compliance with statutes and case law.
  • Release Processing: Serve as the primary release processor for inmates whose sentences are satisfied upon imposition.
  • Liaison Duties: Act as the primary liaison between FDC and jails regarding inmate facility locations and conveyance.
  • Policy Development: Assist in reviewing and developing policies and procedures and participate in database testing.
  • Training and Support: Prepare presentations and train new Admission & Release employees and provide detailed assistance to classification staff.
  • Project Leadership: Lead projects and work assignments, monitor the E-Filing Portal, and respond to law enforcement inquiries.
  • Communication and Reporting: Communicate with legal and court officials to resolve discrepancies, perform in-depth system searches, and prepare daily status reports on productivity and backlog.
