About The Position

We are looking for a Correctional Services Clinician, who is willing to embrace McKinleys mission and H.U.M.A.N values. The Correctional Services Clinician is responsible for supporting the mental health and well-being of seriously mentally ill inmates within the correctional facility. The clinician will conduct individual and group therapy sessions utilizing evidenced based therapeutic techniques and will be responsible for maintaining accurate documentation in accordance with both agency and county procedures.

Requirements

  • Valid registration or licensure with the Board of Behavioral Sciences (ACSW, AMFT, LCSW, LMFT, APCC, LPCC).
  • Prior experience working with severely and persistently mentally ill patients.
  • Proficiency in word processing.
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • General office skills.
  • Typing speed of 50 words per minute (WPM).
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical exam, TB and drug screening.
  • Ability to commute to various sites on campus and correctional facilities.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel and lift 10 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience with justice-involved/forensic populations.
  • Prior experience with the Department of Mental Health (DMH) preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) skills are highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct a minimum of five one-hour group therapy sessions per day for seriously mentally ill inmates.
  • Conduct individual assessments to identify the specific service needs of seriously mentally ill inmates.
  • Coordinate and lead structured programming activities for inmates, focusing on life skills, coping skills, problem-solving, and interpersonal relationships.
  • Utilize evidence based therapeutic techniques to facilitate group discussion, encourage self-reflection, and promote positive behavioral changes.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment to ensure the emotional and physical well-being of inmates.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Countys electronic medical record (EMR) System.
  • Utilize the Countys documentation tools and procedures for charting.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed in a timely manner and in accordance with contractual and regulatory standards.
  • Allocate at least 3 hours of each eight-hour work day to complete necessary documentation and charting.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Facilitys Project Manager and existing mental health providers to assess inmates needs and coordinate service delivery.
  • Participate inr regular interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment objectives, status and progress.
  • Attend all required supervision, department and agency meetings.
  • Take responsibility for ongoing professional skills development.
  • Attend all required agency training.
  • Participate in the agencys Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) plan as assigned.
  • This program operates seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm, including County-observed holidays. Therefore, the clinician will be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
