About The Position

This internal advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in Admission and Release. The mission of the Bureau of Admission and Release in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to manage the intake and release processes of inmates efficiently and accurately. This includes ensuring that all legal and procedural requirements are met, maintaining accurate records, and facilitating the timely and orderly transition of inmates into and out of the correctional system. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must be currently employed with the Florida Department of Corrections.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.

Responsibilities

  • Complex Order Processing: Handle court orders designating or removing sexual predator or offender designations pursuant to F.S. 775.21 and F.S. 943.0435.
  • Court Order Review: Ensure adherence to sentencing provisions, resolve inconsistencies, and conduct re-audits to lawfully compute release dates.
  • Document Auditing: Audit commitment documents, determine applicability of case law, and adjust sentence data to ensure accurate release date calculations.
  • Communication: Liaise with Judges, Public Defenders, State Attorneys, Sheriffs, Clerks of the Court, and Federal officials to resolve legal discrepancies and clarify sentencing instructions.
  • Special Projects: Participate in special projects or assignments related to court cases or legislative changes affecting sentence structure.
  • Reporting and Tracking: Prepare and submit daily status reports on work productivity, backlog, and maintain a tracking database for current assignments and completions.
