About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120 Reporting to the Correctional Lieutenant II, this position will provide supervision of subordinate staff. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. - Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms. - Accounting for persons, funds, and ensuring that all assigned equipment is operationally ready. About Harnett Correctional Institution: Harnett Correctional Institution is located in Lillington, North Carolina and houses up to 988 male offenders in a medium custody facility. This is a RE-POST of position 60065064. Previous applicants are still under consideration and do NOT need to re-apply. This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of facility operations
  • Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures
  • MUST be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years and six months of experience as a Correctional Officer Or Two years of experience as Correctional Officer II Or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
