About The Position

Correctional Rehabilitation Manager, Correctional Counseling Manager 1 (Portland) Columbia River Correctional Institution Oregon Department of Corrections Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of others? We’re looking for a committed and experienced professional to oversee rehabilitative services at Columbia River Correctional Institution in Portland, Oregon. Where you will be helping adults in custody (AICs) gain the skills, resources, and support they need for successful reentry into the community. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing a range of essential services, including case management, counseling, programming, and rehabilitative opportunities for AICs. You’ll work side-by-side with dedicated staff and contract providers to ensure these programs are delivered effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with agency goals. Your leadership will directly impact lives, equipping individuals with the tools to break cycles of incarceration, reduce recidivism, and successfully navigate both the challenges of incarceration and the opportunities of reintegration. This position also requires strong, solution-focused collaboration with institutional leadership and operational teams, working together to create an environment where rehabilitation is prioritized, and people have the chance to build a better future. This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR two (2) years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience with personnel actions including performance reviews, timecard approval, and oversight.

  • Knowledge of Correctional Rehabilitation

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of evidence based practices related to behavioral change principles and the Risk-Need-Responsivity (RNR) model.
  • Proficiency in documentation.
  • Experience providing supportive feedback to improve employee performance.
  • Experience working in a Correctional environment with justice involved individuals.
  • Knowledge of Department of Corrections Systems.
