About The Position

The Texas Department of Criminal Justice (Robertson Unit) is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Correctional Officers. This role is crucial in maintaining safety and security within our correctional facility. As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for monitoring and supervising inmates to ensure compliance with facility rules and regulations. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to handle challenging situations, and a commitment to upholding the law. You will be expected to conduct routine inspections of cells, common areas, and inmate activities, respond to emergencies, and maintain control during critical incidents. Additionally, you will conduct searches for contraband items and escort inmates to various locations within the facility. Accurate record-keeping and detailed report writing on incidents, activities, and inmate behavior are essential components of this role. Collaboration with other staff members is vital to ensure a safe and secure environment for both inmates and staff. The schedule for this position includes an 8-hour day shift from Monday to Friday for paid training, which lasts 6.5 weeks. Once assigned, you will work 12-hour shifts, which may include day or night shifts. This position offers both full-time and part-time opportunities, allowing for flexibility in your work schedule.
