About The Position
The Correctional Officer observes and supervises the behavior of individuals in custody confined to Cook County's Correctional Institutions. This role enforces rules and regulations established for the maintenance of order, discipline, and safety. The officer makes rounds of assigned areas to ensure that all security procedures are adhered to and that all individuals in custody are accounted for. Communication with individuals in custody is essential to ascertain their attitudes, problems, and rehabilitation needs. The officer performs a variety of other related duties to assist with jail operations.
