About The Position

The Correctional Officer position at Management & Training Corporation (MTC) involves ensuring the safety and security of inmates at the Bridgeport Correctional Center in Bridgeport, Texas. The role is critical in maintaining order within the facility while providing support to an at-risk population, helping them on their path to rehabilitation. Officers will engage in various security functions, including supervising inmates, conducting searches, and responding to emergencies, all while adhering to strict protocols and maintaining confidentiality.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED).
• Successful completion of an accredited TDCJ-approved Correctional Officer Training program or TDCJ Correctional Officer Pre-Service Training Academy.
• A valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required.
• Must successfully complete annual, TDCJ approved background checks and in-service training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Search for contraband and provide security.
• Count, feed, and supervise inmates in housing, work, and other areas.
• Provide custody and security of inmates, including observation of inmates.
• Perform security functions including 'pat' and 'strip' searches.
• Transfer and transport inmates by walking or riding in vehicles.
• Restrain and secure assaultive inmates as needed.
• Respond to emergencies, including climbing stairs and using first aid.
• Read, review, and apply information found in inmate records.
• Prepare and maintain records, forms, and reports.
