About The Position

-Candidates for this position must be able to respond to emergency situation in the jail, provide medical assistance including CPR. -Process incoming arrestees and perform the interviews to obtain medical history, criminal history, jail classification, inmate searches, secure/inventory personal property, take photographs and fingerprints, issue jail clothing and bedding. -Conduct searches of inmates' cell, body (Clothed and Unclothed), property and work area to ensure control of contraband and compliance with institutional health standards. -Supervise the daily activities of inmates, including general care, discipline, medical needs, and cleaning of cell blocks. -Monitors video cameras inside and outside of the facility. -Conduct inmate counts at designated times to ensure security and early detection of escapees. -Complete verbal and written reports to supervisors regarding inmate behavior, rule violation, work and repair orders, security issues, and transportation of inmates.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older
  • Must be able to pass a background check in accordance to Federal, State, and Local requirements
  • Complete CO Basic Certification within 1st year of employment
  • Ability to react effectively and deal tactfully with persons in emergency and stressful situations
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
  • Knowledge in use of computers and video camera monitoring equipment
  • Ability to interact with inmates in the housing unit and actively supervise them to identify problems in their early stages
  • Ability to communicate positively and use management techniques to prevent negative behavior and encourage positive behavior
  • Must be able to hand high levels of stress while making prompt and effective decisions
  • Ability to deal with inmates with tact and impartiality; exhibit sound judgment, imagination, initiative, and problem-solving capability in dealing with inmates
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, law enforcement, other agency personnel, and the public
