About The Position
This job is performed at Wheeler Correctional Facility in Alamo, GA, where the Correctional Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining the security and order of the facility. The Correctional Officer is responsible for the security, care, and direct supervision of inmates/residents in various settings within the correctional facility. This includes overseeing inmates during housing, meals, recreation, work assignments, and other activities. Officers may need to employ weapons or force to maintain discipline and order, ensuring a safe environment for both staff and inmates. The role requires flexibility, as officers may be assigned to various posts, including armory/key control, housing units, kitchen, medical, and visitation areas.
