About The Position

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent (GED).
• Successful completion of an accredited Texas Department of Criminal Justice approved Correctional Officer Training program or Pre-Service Training Academy.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, standing, climbing stairs, and lifting over 45 lbs.
• Knowledge of agency policies, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and provide security for inmate work groups in their daily assigned duties.
• Search for contraband and maintain security in various areas of the facility.
• Count, feed, and supervise inmates in housing and work areas, including performing searches.
• Respond to emergencies, including searching for escaped inmates and providing first aid.
• Enforce inmate disciplinary rules and maintain records, forms, and reports.
