About The Position

The Correctional Officer Sergeant position at the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) is responsible for ensuring safety and security within an adult correctional facility. This role involves directing the activities of staff and supervising inmates, maintaining order through the enforcement of policies and procedures, and exercising good judgment and professionalism in various situations.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of experience in a correctional setting, law enforcement, or military experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old.
• Good moral character with no felony convictions.
• Successful completion of the New Mexico Corrections Academy is required.
• Pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
• Pass pre-employment background investigation and any physical and aptitude examinations required.
