About The Position

Correctional Officers II provide supervisory work involving the custody, treatment and training of incarcerated individuals confined within a correctional facility. Supervises correctional staff and incarnated Individuals in a correctional setting. Supervision and technical assistances  are provided to lower ranking officers in a unit, or as part of their on-the-job training. Work is performed in accordance with standard operating  procedures of the facility , and under the supervision of a shift supervisor or a technical superior who makes assignments and reviews work through personal observation and report   May conduct transportation of medication form clinical facility to the correctional facility which includes verifying correct medication and count.  Is responsible for conducting searches and inventories of property, sharps, and other inventories as needed.  Evaluates both staff and performance in relation to assigned duties and  roles, evaluates trends in behavior  and performance  may prepare written report on under his or her supervision.  May investigate  grievances and participate in disciplinary hearings may participate in revision and implementation of facility procedures and programs.   Performs related duties as required. This position follows a 2-2-3 schedule.  In a 2-2-3 rotation, you work two consecutive days, followed by two days off, and then work three consecutive days before having another two days off. This rotation repeats, providing you with regular periods of rest while ensuring continuous coverage of operations. The 2-2-3 schedule offers predictable work hours, flexibility, and longer stretches of consecutive days off for you to rest and recharge and a 3-day weekend every other week. Due to post and shift bidding, this position may be placed on any shift depending on seniority.   Due to shift and post bidding, this position may be placed on any shift depending upon seniority. Overtime work is required to maintain safe staffing levels and is considered a condition of employment.  The ability to work overtime as required is considered an essential function of this job class. Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher AND one (1) or more years of work experience in a correctional system.
  • High school diploma or equivalent AND eighteen months (18) or more of work experience in a correctional system involving the custody of inmates or in a psychiatric facility involving the direct care of patients.
  • One (1) or more years of military experience AND one (1) or more years of work experience in a correctional system.
  • Mental and physical condition appropriate to successfully perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, the essential job functions.
  • Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
  • Overtime work is required to maintain safe staffing levels and is considered a condition of employment.
  • The ability to work overtime as required is considered an essential function of this job class.
