About The Position

This is a statewide ad for multiple Correctional Officer positions with the Florida Department of Corrections. No experience is necessary as all training is provided. The position offers a starting compensation of $22 hourly as a Trainee and $22.66 hourly as a Certified Correctional Officer. Correctional Officers are responsible for the supervision, care, custody, control, and physical restraint of inmates in a Correctional Institution or facility.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Be a United States Citizen.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Not have been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement.
• Pass a medical examination and drug test.
• Have a good moral character as determined by a background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmates in a Correctional Institution or facility.
• Ensure the care and custody of inmates.
• Control and physically restrain inmates when necessary.
