The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking highly motivated and talented individuals for the positions of Correctional Officer 1 (CO1) and Correctional Officer 2 (CO2) at the Clallam Bay Corrections Center (CBCC) and the Olympic Corrections Center (OCC). These are full-time permanent positions that require a commitment to maintaining safety and security within the correctional facilities. The CBCC is a 900-bed male facility located on the Olympic Peninsula, while the OCC is a 381-bed male facility near the Hoh Rainforest. Both facilities operate 24/7 and house various custody levels of offenders, providing treatment and vocational programs to aid in their rehabilitation and reintegration into society. As a Correctional Officer, you will be responsible for controlling, directing, and monitoring the activities and movement of incarcerated individuals. This includes maintaining the security of the institution and ensuring compliance with established department methods and procedures. Officers are expected to serve as positive role models, using interpersonal and communication skills to help incarcerated individuals develop productive behaviors. The role requires physical and mental conditioning, as well as the ability to manage difficult situations effectively. Successful candidates will undergo a six-week paid training program upon hire, which includes the Correctional Worker Core (CWC) training.
