About The Position

Correctional Nurses provide professional nursing care to patients in a correctional setting. Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned staff, or they coordinate and provide statewide health-related training programs. The Department of Corrections is seeking to fill Correctional Nurse 2 positions at Lovelock Correctional Center. Incumbents will be under the supervision of the Correctional Nurse 3 and will consult with them on a regular basis. They will communicate plans with team members by attending nursing meetings and share with other team members. The Correctional Nurse will plan patient care addressing chief presenting problems incorporating the plan of nursing care into the multidisciplinary treatment plan. document the health conditions of patients using appropriate charting protocols. They will collect statistical data, tracking current outpatient medications and patient outcome. The Correctional Nurse will also review inmates to determine need for referrals or assessment.
