About The Position

Reporting to the Correctional Food Service Manager, this position is located at medium custody male correctional facility in the Food Services Department. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Providing supervision of Correctional Food Service Officers. 2. Providing oversight of offenders performing large-scale food production. 3. Providing supervision of the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets for the offender population. 4. Planning, directing and supervising the daily preparation and serving of food to offenders. 5. Providing accurate and timely record keeping. 6. Utilizing computerized food and nutrition systems to prepare and serve daily meals. 7. Conducting employee work appraisals. 8. Working in this position also includes: food preparation, serving, storage, menu planning, menu substitutions, and maintain sanitation requirements. (Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120)

Requirements

  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer, OR two years as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented experience in sanitation, preparing menus, managing inventory, and/or other large-scale food service production activities.
  • Documented supervision of employees and/or offender workers.
