Under the general supervision of the Correctional Counselor II (Supervisor), the Correctional Counselor I duties include initial classification and subsequent program evaluations for inmates, affirm loss and restoration of Behavioral Credits and the provision of general casework services, per the Department Operations Manual (DOM). Responsibilities may extend to supervision of inmates and general custody duties in time of emergency, perform other custodial duties as required by proper authority, and adhere to Departmental Use of Force Policy. Prevents escapes and injury by inmates to themselves, others, or property; maintains security of working areas and work materials; inspects premises and searches of inmates for contraband such as weapons or illegal drugs. CCI's are required to carry a whistle, PAD alarm and OC Pepper Spray at all times. Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or may become Permanent.
