About The Position
Under the supervision of the Correctional Counselor II (Supervisor), the Correctional Counselor I will be responsible for handling inmate requests; obtaining inmate signatures for legal paperwork; prepare pre-release reports; supervise central file reviews and inmate attorney visits. CCI will review inmate appeals and interview inmates if necessary; deal with outside agencies, attorneys and family members, set up unit classification committees and maintain and track medical/psychiatric referrals. Process trust withdrawals; copy legal material for inmates; prepare special reports and counsel inmates on personal, institutional and family problems.
