About The Position

The Correctional Program Specialist in the Health Services Division at the Montana Department of Corrections is responsible for providing social and therapeutic services aimed at rehabilitating offenders in custody. This role involves coordinating intake and release planning, evaluating offender progress, establishing treatment goals, and facilitating individual and group programming. The specialist will utilize evidence-based practices to assess offenders and develop collaborative treatment plans.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in criminal justice, psychology, education, or a related field.
  • 2 years of related experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and complete intake and release-planning information for offenders' programming.
  • Interview offenders regularly to evaluate their progress in accomplishing goals and maintaining terms specified in their contracts and rehabilitation plans.
  • Establish goals for offenders by gauging compliance with court-ordered restrictions and observing the effectiveness of treatment.
  • Prepare treatment reports or special requests for law offenders in custody.
  • Develop treatment and programming plans and strategies collaboratively with offenders.
  • Facilitate individual and group programming with offenders.
  • Manage and modify assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and planning services.
  • Assess offenders through motivational interviewing and established evidence-based practices.
