Correctional Case Manager (Tabor CI)
About The Position
The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Reporting to the Correctional Programs Supervisor this position is responsible for carrying a caseload of offenders, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answer and following up on offender questions and problems.
Requirements
- Knowledge of supportive counseling techniques
- MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
- Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice, Human Services, Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution Or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Public Safety Or An equivalent combination of training and experience.
Responsibilities
- Providing recommendations to the classification committee.
- Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordination major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, work release, education, or recreation.
- Planning and coordination transition (re-entry) prior to parole or release into the community.
