This position reports to a Correctional Program Supervisor at a minimum custody male correctional facility and works in the Programs Department. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Carrying a caseload of offenders, which involves supportive counseling, conducting assessments, developing case plans, answering and following up on offenders' questions and concerns. Making recommendations to the classifications committee. Communicating effectively with other staff, offenders and the general public. Working under stressful conditions caused by direct contact with incarcerated offenders, who can become physically violent and verbally abusive and performing crisis interventions to include suicide prevention. Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders, such as offender work assignments, work release, education or recreation, as well as transition planning and coordinating. Preparing written reports with accurately reflect data reviewed by various sources and reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating various documents and behavior data gathered from interviews, written documentation and personal observation.
