About The Position

The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! This position will report to the Chief of Security's Office, with direct supervision by the Assistant Chief of Security. -Shift - Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. -Work Location - UNC Chapel Hill Hospital -Directly supervise four (4) Correctional Lieutenant's -Responsible for tracking and logging all offender arrivals and departures. -Responsible for conducting all breaks for Correctional staff visiting UNC Chapel Hill Hospital -Will serve as an on-site liaison for UNC Hospital staff for any issues. -Will serve as a first responder during emergency situations involving DAC staff and/or offenders. -Will ensure the safety, security, and proper management of offender supervision in a community health care-setting.

Requirements

  • High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant, or 2 years of experience as a Correctional Lieutenant III; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.

Responsibilities
