About The Position

This position is located at Maury Correctional Institution in Hookerton, NC. Maury Correctional Institution is a close-custody prison housing male offenders. The facility is designed to house a maximum capacity of 1500 offenders. Positions at this level perform the primary purpose of this position is to assist in the delivery of mental health services for referred outpatient population offenders. A continuum of services is offered which includes individual and group supportive counseling, crisis intervention services, treatment team participation, psycho-educational groups and various classification actions. This position may be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and inventorying supplies used for programming Duties include data entry, collection, and making and reporting clinical impressions of inmates during assessment or in daily activities on Residential Mental health or infirmary unit. This position may assist in group or individual supportive counseling in groups such as arts and crafts, leisure activities, horticulture, and quilting. This position may be repsonsible for monitoring, maintaining, and inventorying supplies used for programming. Employee may set up testing situations in diagnostic center and in monitoring inmates as they take work on treatment goals and may also assist in aftercare planning under the direction of a cinical social worker. Employee's supportive counseling role includes use of crisis intervention techniques and referral to treatment staff as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or other human services field from an appropriately accredited institution with several classes in psychology, and one year of experience in some area of behavioral health; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidates being considered for a position in Diagnostics require at least 2 years of experience administering and/or conducting psychological testing.
