Correctional Associate Warden for Custody/Operations - (Lumberton CI)
About The Position
The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Salary Range: $53,164 - $93,038 Reporting to the Warden III, this position will provide supervision of subordinate staff. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: - Managing the Custody section including the Food Service operation and providing for the safety and security of the facility. - Reviewing all incident reports, assigning and reviewing internal investigations, conducting critical internal investigations, reviewing offender requests and responding appropriately, and ensuring that the personnel resources are allocated for the maximum benefit of the facility. - Handling special assignments from the Warden and completing all actions necessary as the Facility Safety Manager. About Lumberton Correctional Institution: Lumberton Correctional Institution is located in Lumberton, North Carolina and houses up to 788 male offenders in a medium custody facility. Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC15. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase May result.
Requirements
- Documented supervisory skills in a prison facility
- Knowledge of facility operations
- Knowledge of Prisons’ policy and procedures
- MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

- Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of supervisory, administrative, or consultative experience in corrections or related work Or High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience at or above the Correctional Lieutenant level Or An equivalent combination of education and experience.
