There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
This position is located at the Correction Enterprises Metal Plant at Anson Correctional Institution. The primary purpose of this position is to directly supervise up to 45 - 55 minimum custody inmates engaged in the manufacture of fabricated metal items (primarily stainless-steel kitchen items, and black iron lockers, bunks, and shelving) from start to completion. This position functions as the finishing supervisor and trains and supervises all aspects of the powder coat finishing operation upon receipt from the fabrication department. Position is responsible for demonstrating the proper techniques and training inmates on the safe and proper operation of powder coat finishing equipment to ensure a quality finished product. This employee will complete all necessary safety training, and train the inmates in safety, tool control, and all other tasks required insuring inmate/employee safety within a minimum custody prison environment. Duties include training in the operation of metal finishing equipment, primarily a powder coating operation required to complete specified metal products. Performs visual inspection of the finished product for completeness, accuracy and neatness to ensure quality control. Items produced at this plant include but are not limited to: commercial kitchen exhaust hoods, work tables, baker's tables, sinks, dish tables, storage and transport cabinets, black iron lockers, bunks, shelving, and other related items. The finishing portion of the manufacturing process requires some craftsmanship; therefore, the supervision and training of inmates is crucial to assure high quality of finished items, appearance, and to minimize waste. This position is responsible for completion of safety training and orientation necessary to ensure that subordinate employees and inmates are adequately trained to perform assigned tasks safely and according to OSHA, NCDAC, and Enterprises safety programs. This involves instruction, demonstration, and training in the use of related equipment and tools used to accomplish assigned jobs. The safety orientation also includes tool inventory control, as this plant operates within a medium custody correctional institution. Accounting of all tools is crucial to maintaining a safe work environment and assuring that potentially dangerous items do not leave the plant and get into the institution.
