About The Position

The Vice President of Technology will serve as Mainsail’s senior technology leader, responsible for defining and guiding the company’s technology strategy in support of operational excellence, scalable growth, cybersecurity, and an elevated guest experience. This person will be responsible for strategic planning for technology infrastructure, information system assets, data management, and enterprise security. This role is a business-oriented leadership role that ensures technology decisions align with Mainsail’s operating philosophy, brands, and growth strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems or an equivalent business degree
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in information technology
  • A minimum of 3 years in data strategy and data management
  • Experience in travel and hospitality software technology systems/products
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience implementing and managing customer-facing web and mobile applications
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive technology leadership experience
  • Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to coordinate communications, objectives, and tasks between internal and external resources
  • Able to influence and make sound judgments quickly
  • Work on multiple tasks, making appropriate progress towards deadlines
  • Able to work independently, take direction, and provide direction to others
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to effectively handle challenges in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
  • Demonstrated success supporting growth, openings, or a multi-property environment
  • Highly proficient in contract negotiations, contract maintenance, and vendor management

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Marriott hotel technology requirements and systems is a plus
  • At least 4 years of prior experience in hospitality, retail, multi-unit, or service-driven businesses strongly preferred
  • At least 3 years’ experience operating within lean, entrepreneurial cultures (not only large enterprises)

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain a multi-year enterprise technology strategy and roadmap aligned with company growth, new developments, renovations, and transitions
  • Establish clear technology principles to guide decision-making (simplicity, scalability, security, ROI)
  • Balance innovation with operational stability; avoid unnecessary complexity
  • Define the right internal vs. outsourced technology model
  • Engage and manage third-party partners and manage service providers effectively
  • Ensure appropriate frameworks are in place without overengineering the organization
  • Partner closely with Operations, Finance, Development, and Brand Leadership
  • Establish and manage a governance operating model, including data ownership, stewardship, and accountability for: System selection and retirement, Vendor evaluation and performance, Project prioritization and capital allocation
  • Serve as executive steward for technology standards while respecting property-level operational realities
  • Ensure data supports audit readiness, cybersecurity, and regulatory controls
  • Provide strategic oversight (not day-to-day administration) of: PMS, POS, revenue, sales & catering, guest-facing platforms, Finance, procurement, and data platforms
  • Ensure systems are integrated, secure, and aligned to position Mainsail to scale in growth
  • Identify opportunities to simplify or rationalize overlapping technologies
  • Serve as executive owner for: Cybersecurity posture and vendor oversight, PCI compliance and data privacy, Disaster recovery and business continuity, User access controls, and information security policies
  • Partner with Development and Operations teams to ensure technology readiness for new builds, acquisitions, and transitions
  • Provide standards and playbook solutions for every project
  • Coach, mentor, and develop leaders and subject matter experts
  • Participate in hiring, succession planning, and workforce strategy
  • Provide performance feedback, evaluations, and recognition
