Corporate Tax Manager
About The Position
We are seeking a Corporate Tax Manager to join our corporate tax practice in Chicago, IL. This role will lead client engagements across corporate tax planning, compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting (tax provision preparation or audit support). As a Manager, you will be responsible for supervising staff, building client relationships, and ensuring high-quality service delivery while identifying opportunities for additional value. Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting.
- Active CPA or JD/active law license required.
- 4-7 years of progressive corporate tax compliance and consulting experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of corporate income tax and ASC 740.
- Experience in public accounting preferred.
- Proficiency in US GAAP and corporate income tax regulations.
- Strong client service, communication, and presentation skills.
- Experience using ONESOURCE Tax Provision preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and mentor staff.
- Ability to travel as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with state and local taxation, international tax, and transfer pricing.
- Proven ability to identify and pursue business development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple client engagements from planning through completion, ensuring quality and timeliness.
- Supervise, train, and mentor senior associates, associates, and interns; review performance for engagement and year-end evaluations.
- Review corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and identifying tax savings opportunities.
- Conduct primary review of ASC 740 income tax provision projects.
- Research and consult on federal, state, and local tax matters.
- Respond to inquiries from IRS and state tax authorities.
- Maintain strong client relationships while acting as the primary day-to-day contact.
- Collaborate with internal tax teams, including national office resources.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to expand services with current and prospective clients.
- Stay current with tax laws and participate in professional development opportunities.
