About The Position

Maine Oxy is building something special—and we are looking for an early-career accounting professional who wants to grow with us. As a recognized Best Places to Work in Industrial Gases, we take pride not only in the essential products we provide, but in the people who make our success possible. If you are looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity that offers meaningful, hands-on experience in corporate taxation, this role was designed with you in mind. This is an outstanding opportunity for an entry-level accounting or finance professional eager to gain exposure to multi-state tax compliance within a growing, multi-location organization. Rather than performing routine clerical tasks, you will play a direct role in supporting the company’s regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions. Your work will have real impact and visibility. In this role, you will prepare, file, and remit sales and use tax returns across multiple states, counties, and local jurisdictions. You will reconcile tax accounts to the general ledger, assist with personal property tax declarations, manage business license registrations and renewals, and maintain compliance calendars to ensure all deadlines are met. You will also interact directly with state and local tax authorities to resolve notices and support audits or compliance reviews when necessary. This position offers broad exposure to corporate tax operations, including sales and use tax, personal property tax, and business registration compliance. You will develop practical, transferable skills in research, reconciliation, regulatory compliance, and multi-jurisdictional reporting—experience that provides a strong foundation for long-term growth in accounting or corporate finance. The ideal candidate holds (or is pursuing) a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and possesses a solid understanding of foundational accounting principles. Prior exposure to sales tax or personal property tax filings is helpful but not required. Strong Excel skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines are essential. Just as important, we value curiosity, accountability, and a willingness to learn. Why this role is a great fit for an entry-level professional: You gain hands-on experience rather than observation-only exposure. You receive direct mentorship from experienced accounting leaders. You build multi-state tax expertise early in your career. You work for a company that values its people and has earned industry recognition as a best place to work. You enjoy the flexibility of a part-time schedule while building meaningful professional credentials. At Maine Oxy, we believe professional growth should be both challenging and rewarding. This role offers the chance to build real expertise in a supportive environment where your contributions matter from day one. If you are ready to launch your accounting career with practical experience and strong mentorship, we would be excited to meet you.
