About The Position

As a Corporate Project Manager III, you will provide project management leadership and critical engagement with key stakeholders on initiatives that advance our business lines — with a primary focus on behind-the-meter energy initiatives and energy resiliency projects that support our business operations. You will manage multiple concurrent projects including solar installations, distributed generation systems, EV charging deployments, and other energy related initiatives. This role is highly field-focused, requiring close coordination with store teams, on-site crews, utilities, and vendors — all while navigating corporate systems, approvals, and project governance. You will oversee project progress end-to-end, ensuring safe, timely, and successful execution while supporting the continuity of our business, and great customer experience H-E-B is known for. During emergency events, you will also collaborate with other internal teams to help support stores operating for the communities we serve. Requirements

  • Related degree OR comparable training/certifications and work experience
  • 5+ years of project management experience (energy, construction, utilities, facilities, or operations strongly preferred)
  • Working knowledge of PMI-based PM lifecycle, processes, and tools
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities
  • Conflict management and facilitation skills
  • Ability to analyze meaningful data and track project effectiveness

Responsibilities

  • Project Management (PM Lifecycle)
  • Manage multiple concurrent energy and infrastructure projects, from planning through close-out
  • Lead defined projects following the project management lifecycle with moderate oversight
  • Support definition of project scope, schedule, deliverables, and measurable outcomes
  • Develop cost estimates, resource forecasts, and risk mitigation plans
  • Maintain lifecycle-long project documentation and reporting
  • Determine and maintain appropriate deliverables (communications, risk, resource, implementation, and quality plans)
  • Monitor status and escalate risks proactively; maintain risk logs and communicate issues quickly
  • Ensure project budget, schedule, and performance objectives are met
  • Support and advise on change-management needs throughout the project lifecycle
  • Execute contracts related to technology and professional services
  • Plan and manage successful project transitions and close-outs
  • Build and maintain strong sponsor and stakeholder partnerships
  • Field & Vendor Coordination (Field-Focused Role)
  • Maintain regular presence at retail store sites and project locations
  • Serve as main contact for internal teams, field crews, contractors, and vendors
  • Coordinate civil, electrical, and mechanical scopes in active operational environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve on-site challenges in real time
  • Enforce safety, quality, and compliance standards always
  • Retail Operations Support
  • Align projects with store operations, refrigeration needs, delivery schedules, and customer flow
  • Partner closely with store leadership, facilities, and operations teams
  • Adjust construction sequencing to protect uptime and food safety
  • Advocate for operational priorities during infrastructure decision-making
  • Energy & EV Infrastructure
  • Manage deployments of solar PV, distributed generation, backup power, and EV chargers
  • Coordinate with utilities, charging network partners, and sustainability teams
  • Support pilots and evaluation of new distributed energy technologies
  • Emergency & Fleet Support
  • Assist during outages, extreme weather, and emergency power scenarios
  • Help mobilize generators, fuel logistics, and field resources
  • Support rapid operational continuity efforts across impacted locations
