About The Position

US Farathane is seeking a skilled Corporate Process Engineer to support our manufacturing operations, focusing on injection molding processes and launch readiness for new programs. This role plays a key part in developing, improving, and standardizing US Farathane’s (USF) molding best practices across facilities. The Corporate Process Engineer will collaborate cross-functionally with Program Managers, Tooling Engineers, Moldflow analysts, plant operations, and external partners to ensure successful tooling and product launches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Plastic Technology with 5+ years’ experience or 10+ years of relevant injection molding experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, professional journals, regulations, and business publications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information to management teams and customers.
  • Comprehensive understanding of injection molding machine parameters and their effects on product quality.
  • Experience designing and executing scientific molding experiments to solve molding issues.
  • Strong mathematical skills including algebra and geometry for calculations involving proportions, volume, area, ratios, etc.
  • Proven ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data, and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical instructions and apply them in practical situations.
  • Willingness to learn and operate press robots during sampling.
  • Willingness to perform basic material handling tasks to support mold trials.
  • Ability to travel to USF manufacturing plants throughout Michigan, Austin, TX, Kansas City, MO, and Jackson, TN, frequently.

Responsibilities

  • Support Program Managers in launching new products by collaborating with Tooling Engineers, tool shops, mold flow vendors, tryout facilities, and plant personnel to ensure production readiness.
  • Sample new molds and materials; provide detailed documentation, recommendations, and performance feedback.
  • Establish and optimize molding parameters using mold flow data, scientific molding principles, and process adjustments to achieve required part quality and cycle times.
  • Drive continuous improvement through process optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Utilize molding best practices including: rheology curve development, pressure loss analysis, cavity balance evaluation, mold temperature mapping, gate freeze studies, load sensitivity tests, dynamic check ring tests, and melt temperature studies.
  • Train plant Process Engineers and Process Technicians in molding best practices.
  • Participate in product design reviews, tooling design reviews, and Moldflow analysis meetings.
