About The Position

Convert mortgage leads from www.macu.com, MACU employees, MACU’s professional partners and other internal sources to closed mortgage loans.

Requirements

  • One to three years of service at MACU or similar financial work experience.
  • High school equivalent or a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
  • Active NMLS number.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as tax returns, income statements, contracts and documents regarding real estate transactions, loan program guidelines, AUS findings and preliminary title reports.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, members, or clients.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all channels such as telephone, email, text and in person. The majority of the communication is done through email and by phone; this requires a high-degree of clarity in writing and the ability to convey mortgage concepts in an understandable way.
  • Qualified Candidates must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up is critical to success.
  • Excellent customer service is paramount to this position.
  • Intermediate to Advanced skills in the following: Adding machine/10-Key, computer operating skills (windows navigation, mouse/keyboard functionality), Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must have the ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute
  • Must have the ability to understand and carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews leads as assigned.
  • Determine eligibility of prospective borrower through interviews, verification of documents, and other third party information.
  • Assess the correct loan options for the borrower based upon the member’s present situation and future plans and advise the member of the loan products that will meet their needs.
  • Takes a complete loan application including addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, etc. and send complete file to corporate within 24 hours of completion.
  • Operates the LOS (Loan Origination System) Encompass.
  • Runs and analyzes credit report and AUS (automated underwriting system)
  • Orders title reports and appraisals; analyzes title insurance policies and property appraisal reports.
  • Analyzes income documents (paystubs, personal and business taxes) and calculates debt ratios
  • Interprets strengths and weaknesses for each loan application.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Reg Z and RESPA regulations
  • Cross-sells other credit union products and services
  • Keeps track of all contract dates and deadlines to avoid costly extensions or loss of property and/or earnest money deposit.
  • Stays in contact with members and/or realtors during the loan process to keep them informed.
  • Return calls promptly < 24 hours.
  • Locks or floats rates according to member’s direction.
  • Attends loan closings
  • If unable to grant a mortgage to a member, councils with member about their credit and achieving their credit goals.
  • Answers incoming calls to our main mortgage line in order to provide prompt service
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
