Responsible for partnering with each facility to maintain material master for the in-direct items, including material set up and changes, providing solutions to urgent needs, and maintaining item description consistency while researching to ensure no duplicates. Utilizes knowledge of Butterball systems to enable total visibility to all operational facilities from a single location to ensure consistency. Maintains the contract database for Procurement, creates extensions and routes to proper partners for review, works with Suppliers on needed changes, and is responsible for protecting the organization by ensuring timely renewals. Creates weekly reports, track metrics, and ensures all goals are achieved.

  • Works with inventory manager to establish and load inventory values. Sets up info records and source list to ensure purchasing from the proper supplier.
  • Directs and sets up contracts and maintains files to ensure compliance. Works with each buyer to ensure their contracts are processed in a timely manner.
  • Researches and recommends new policies and/or procedures related to procurement based on new and innovative changes in the industry.
  • Maintains awareness of new products, technologies, and procedures developed within the industry to ensure the company remains competitive in all areas of material planning and purchasing.
  • Researches and makes recommendations for strategic planning and goal setting such as cost savings, backorders, and training in procurement related to assigned location.
  • Develops and maintains vendor relationships including addressing contractual concerns and ensuring both parties are set up for success.
  • Requests and reviews vendor documentation of materials prior to purchase.
  • Negotiates with new and existing vendors discussing and gaining alignment on contract terms, languages, and updates.
  • Responsible for evaluating problems and finding and communicating resolutions organization-wide and with external vendors.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to validate vendors for specific products.
  • Directly negotiates pricing for vendor agreements on some of the contracts for the in-direct Procurement space.
  • Works with maintenance team to identify material specifications based on project requirements or internal needs.
  • Prepares spreadsheets and presentations utilized for performance metrics, cost-savings, month end reports, and ad hoc reports as needed.
  • Facilitates communication between facilities, relevant information is gathered and shared for organizational awareness, problem resolution, and any corrective actions needed.
  • Updates costing as needed based on raw material prices or any changes that have impacted parts costs.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of all operational and food safety requirements.
  • Cross-trains to provide support in other areas of purchasing as needed.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or a related field
