About The Position

This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing metals processing and distribution work. Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Phoenix Metals in metals processing and distribution.

Requirements

  • Willingness to support by phone and email during off duty hours required.
  • Hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial environment required.
  • High School diploma/GED required, Vocational/Trade School Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
  • Ability to work weekends and alternate shifts as required to complete maintenance required.
  • Fundamental knowledge in hydraulics, electrical and mechanical principles required.
  • Expert knowledge of electromechanical systems, troubleshooting and equipment repair required.
  • Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
  • Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including analysis, knowledge and experience, and judgment required.
  • Ability to initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with co-workers as well as internal customers and vendors required.
  • Basic computer proficiency and working knowledge of software applications required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for independently completing a broad range of maintenance tasks and/or planning or leading tasks and/or other staff in the accomplishment of work.
  • Support locations in all aspects of maintenance and maintenance related projects.
  • Providing training to Phoenix Metals' maintenance staff on various maintenance topics, including the company's maintenance software.
  • Responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and dismantling production and material handling equipment such as shears, cranes, forklifts and other power equipment.
  • Performs a variety of diagnostic tests, evaluating equipment performance, cleaning and lubricating machinery and performing minor equipment and facility maintenance and repairs.
  • Dismantles machines and removes parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes, or hoists.
  • Reassembles of machines after the completion of repair or maintenance work.
  • Work with vendors to resolve ongoing issues.
  • Responsible for adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
