About The Position

Amentum is seeking a corporate legal intern to support the Engineering and Technology Business Line. This role involves providing legal advice, reviewing contracts, and assisting in negotiations, with a focus on minimizing legal risks and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a 3rd year law student (or beyond) and present an official transcript.
  • Previous work experience (internship or part-time) is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Attention to detail is essential.
  • Extensive legal writing skills are necessary.
  • Ability to work independently and with full autonomy.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS law degree from an ABA accredited law school preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will sit in Eastern or Central time zone.

Responsibilities

  • Acts in an advisory capacity regarding legal matters to line and staff organizations within the company, particularly in claims and litigation.
  • Represents the company in negotiations with third parties, government agencies, and other outside parties.
  • Reviews contracts, leases, and other corporate legal documents; recommends modifications as needed.
  • Evaluates the impact of existing law and proposed changes on company policies; advises senior management accordingly.
  • Drafts original legal forms and documents as required.
  • Renders legal advice on general corporation law, contracts, controversies, and lawsuits.
  • Participates in negotiations with corporate clients regarding contracts for services.
  • Prepares, reviews, and approves corporate contracts and commitments.
  • Administers and monitors claims and lawsuits involving the company.
  • Provides guidelines to management for compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Assists in identifying and minimizing risks related to company operations.
  • Maintains knowledge of safety policies and procedures; ensures compliance if supervising others.
  • Actively participates in Safety Work Groups.
  • Researches and analyzes legal sources such as statutes and judicial decisions.
  • Prepares legal documents for review and use by the legal department.
  • Assists with M&A-related due diligence.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
