About The Position

The Corporate Legal Analyst Intern will provide legal support to the Engineering and Technology Business Line at Amentum. This part-time remote position is designed for a law student who will assist in various legal matters, including contract review, legal research, and compliance with laws and regulations. The intern will also participate in negotiations and help minimize legal risks for the company.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a 3rd year law student (or beyond) and willing to present an official transcript.
  • Previous work experience (internship or part-time) is highly preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Extensive legal writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with full autonomy.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS law degree from an ABA accredited law school preferred.
  • Ideal candidate will sit in Eastern or Central time zone.

Responsibilities

  • Acts in an advisory capacity regarding legal matters to line and staff organizations within the company, focusing on claims and litigation.
  • Represents the company in negotiations with third parties and their counsel, government agencies, and other outside parties.
  • Reviews various contracts, leases, and other corporate legal documents; makes recommendations for modification, revision, and clarification of documents as needed.
  • Evaluates the impact of existing law and court decisions and proposed changes in the law on company policies and operating procedures; makes recommendations to senior management.
  • Drafts original legal forms and documents as required.
  • Renders legal advice on matters of general corporation law, contracts, controversies, lawsuits, and pending legislation.
  • Participates in negotiations with corporate clients and their counsel regarding contracts for services.
  • Prepares, reviews, and approves corporate contracts and commitments involving contractual obligations of the company.
  • Administers and monitors claims and lawsuits involving the company, providing advice on strategies for resolution.
  • Assists management in compliance with laws and regulations, minimizing risks and legal exposure.
  • Maintains knowledge of safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and safe work habits.
  • Researches and analyzes legal sources such as statutes and judicial decisions.
  • Prepares legal documents for review and use by the legal department.
  • Assists with M&A-related due diligence.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
