About The Position

Cleary University invites candidates to apply for the contract position of Corporate Finance Subject Matter Expert (SME). The academic team at Cleary University seeks a dynamic student-focused expert possessing a successful academic and professional record of championing a strong, vibrant, and relevant undergraduate educational experiences of exceptional quality and relevance to the current and future workforce. We are looking for a Corporate Finance SME who possesses relevant professional, teaching, and curriculum development experience, with particular expertise in one or more of the following areas: Corporate Finance, Financial Markets and Institutions. Fulfilling Cleary University's Mission to 'provide an intimate and inclusive, student-centered business education that instills the values of The Cleary Mind in our community', the Corporate Finance SME works closely with leadership, faculty, and instructional design personnel to design, create, or revise courses to be offered to our student populations, which are comprised of traditional students, student athletes, and returning adult students across a variety of instructional modalities. The Corporate Finance SME combines their formal education, professional knowledge, and real-world experience to guide content development in the course design process. Working closely with academic leadership, faculty, and instructional designers, the Corporate Finance SME designs, creates, and selects one or more of the following program and course elements: Course materials (e.g., textbooks, articles, videos, and online course curations), Course assignments (e.g., discussion questions, presentations, applied analyses, and culminating projects), Course tool selection to support virtual student projects and assignments. With the course offered online in a six-week format, course materials and assignments must be accessible to students and faculty online. With the assistance of an instructional designer, the Corporate Finance SME will ensure Cleary students explore appropriate content and apply their knowledge to meet course-level outcomes and create weekly learning objectives branched out from the main course objectives. The Corporate Finance SME will consult with leadership, faculty, and instructional designers to ensure consistency of new development with existing Cleary programs and courses, along with key elements of Cleary's plan for the assessment of student learning. The contract position can be remote or based in the Howell, MI, area. Applications will be reviewed immediately upon receipt and will continue to be accepted until the contract position is filled.

Requirements

  • An earned master's degree from an institutionally accredited institution in finance, financial management, or a closely-related discipline.
  • A minimum of five years of current and relevant professional experience in corporate finance.
  • A minimum of one year teaching experience teaching undergraduate corporate finance courses at the university/college level.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Docs, AI models, and other software programs for communicating, creating, and maintaining spreadsheets, reports, and presentations.
  • Ability to embrace The Cleary Mind as the University's approach to building each student's professional skills required by the workforce and job market.
  • Ability to apply professional experiences to inform and inspire students about workforce projects, situations, and challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Design, create, or revise courses for undergraduate students.
  • Work closely with leadership, faculty, and instructional design personnel.

  • Ensure course materials and assignments are accessible online.
  • Consult with leadership, faculty, and instructional designers for consistency.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with an instructional designer.
  • Research, develop, or revise course materials.
  • Participate in consultations with leadership and faculty.

Benefits

  • Potential Compensation for designing and developing content for a new course is $800 per course.
  • Potential Compensation for designing and developing content for a course revision is $400 to $600 per course.
