Corporate Engineer - Mechanical

Shaw Industries is seeking a Corporate Engineer - Mechanical. Under the limited direction of the Engineering Manager, this position is primarily responsible and accountable for project development, design, and execution, with a secondary focus on technical support for manufacturing facilities. Work is often multi-disciplined and requires close coordination with manufacturing management, other corporate departments, and outside agencies. While project assignments may at times overlap into other disciplines such as civil, the primary focus of this position is mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and piping. This position is responsible for collecting design criteria, preparing detailed schedules, preparing technical specifications, developing engineering designs, assembling project estimates, creating engineered drawings, and utilizing project management tools to ensure projects meet safety, quality, schedule, performance, and budget requirements. Location: This position will be primarily based in Dalton, GA, with project management assignments and responsibilities potentially requiring work at any Shaw facility location. Although its primary base is in Dalton, GA, CE is deployed on projects across the enterprise. The department provides feasibility studies, high-level budgets, project development, detailed cost estimates, engineering, design, project management, consulting, and CAD services. CE has specialists to serve the needs of each segment of the business. Staff include mechanical, electrical, & civil engineers, project managers, interior designers, and CAD designers, as well as administrative staff.
