Job Summary The Corporate Counsel will provide legal advice and counsel to Bachoco USA employees across a broad range of legal issues and assist with business transactions and litigation matters.

Requirements

  • Law degree from accredited law school with a demonstratable superior academic record and admission to a US state bar association.
  • Relevant experience working in a law firm or corporate or government office is preferred.
  • Hands on experience in drafting and interpreting legal contracts, solid legal research and writing skills, knowledge of litigation process, and knowledge of administrative procedures.
  • Demonstrate fluence in English language, including ability to draft and negotiate legal and commercial documents.
  • Fluence in Spanish is also beneficial.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Must be licensed and in good standing with an accredited bar.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases.
  • Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Development software; Internet software; Inventory software; Order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and sit.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to experience between 1-3 years.
  • Desire to work in a corporate setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with review, risk assessment and negotiation of contracts with Purchasing, Sales, IT and other business areas of the company.
  • Stay updated on any changes in the law that could impact the company.
  • Anticipate and identify legal issues impacting the business and proactively develop effective legal strategies and practical solutions.
  • Ensure good corporate governance in the areas of accountability, Code of Conduct, and provide training and assistance in investigations related to violations of corporate policies.
  • Develop and implement necessary company policies as well as refining existing policies in all business areas of the company.
  • Manage and liaise with external service providers, including external legal counsel.
  • Provide training on discrete legal issues impacting business groups.
  • Maintain contract database on executed agreements.
  • Support the business operations for our plant locations in North America.
