About The Position

Amazon’s legal department is looking for a smart, experienced, creative and
highly motivated litigator to help manage Amazon’s worldwide portfolio of
commercial litigation. Responsibilities include architecting and implementing
Amazon’s litigation strategy with respect to specific cases; selecting,
managing, and improving the performance of outside counsel; advising Amazon
leadership on a wide range of novel legal and business risks and opportunities;
working with Amazon witnesses and data repositories to prepare for trial;
coordinating with Amazon public policy and public relations teams on matters
relating to litigation; designing and implementing innovative processes that
enable small teams to make high velocity decisions at scale; and providing daily
cross-functional leadership to disparate Amazon stakeholders about a range of
legal problems involving such areas as contract, business tort, consumer
protection, stockholder, real estate, transportation, advertising, privacy,
class action, and First Amendment law.

Requirements

• 5+ years of legal experience
• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
• Knowledge of internet, software, and media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate or equivalent
• Experience in complex domestic and international business litigation, including trial experience and counseling parties and witnesses in pre-dispute and dispute resolution or equivalent context
• Experience handling complex consumer class actions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in securities litigation, derivative litigation, and other stockholder disputes
• A mix of corporate law firm and in-house legal experience
• Experience in privacy law
