About The Position

The Corporate Counsel II - Labor & Employment at ALDI is responsible for providing legal counsel on employment-related matters, mitigating legal risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role involves advising internal clients, responding to administrative agency charges, and developing or revising company policies related to labor and employment. The position requires strong legal analysis, drafting skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders within the organization.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school required.
  • Licensed to practice in Illinois (or immediate ability to become licensed) required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in a business environment required.
  • Experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or in-house legal counsel experience preferred.
  • Overall broad knowledge of employment law.
  • Strong legal analysis, drafting, research, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and mitigate legal risk related to labor and employment issues.
  • Counsel internal clients on applicable laws and regulations.
  • Respond to administrative agency charges and employment-related litigation.
  • Research and track HR and employment-related laws and legal updates.
  • Draft memorandums, attorney correspondence, and litigation-related documents.
  • Partner with outside counsel and manage relevant external consultants.
  • Recommend process improvements for legal responsibilities.
  • Perform pre-litigation work to minimize risks and potential legal liability.
  • Assist in analyzing current company procedures to identify best practices.
  • Support strategies for reducing costs and transferring risk.
