About The Position

Amazon's Legal Department is looking for a talented attorney to help support Amazon’s Engine organization, including Enterprise Engineering and the Tech Sourcing & Infrastructure team. This position is on the Products Legal team within Amazon Web Services. In this role, you'll support strategic enterprise-wide technology deals for tools and services used by global Amazonians, including emerging technologies like AI tools. You will also serve as the primary attorney for several Amazon internal services and work with internal business clients on challenging legal issues related to the development and deployment of these services, such as data rights, privacy, security and more. You must have excellent communication skills as this position involves direct contact with principal business owners. You will develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative, business-centric ways, and you will build processes that address risk and allow the business to innovate and scale quickly. The successful candidate will be inquisitive, enthusiastic about technology, enjoy working hard and being continually challenged, and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations. Requirements

  • 5+ years of legal experience
  • Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
  • Experience working cross functionally across several teams
  • Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication
  • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience with IP licensing or technology transactions, experience in product counseling related to data privacy, cloud computing, or enterprise software systems.
  • Sound and practical business judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating agreements (including hosted services agreements, software licensing agreements, services agreements, and other commercial contracts);
  • Partnering with the business to develop and launch products and services Amazon employees use and depend on; and
  • Identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation strategies, and overseeing privacy, regulatory and contractual compliance.
