About The Position

The Legal Group protects Lam against risks and provides the framework for our ethical and compliant global business practices, enabling Lam to effectively navigate the landscape of the semiconductor industry. This role, a member of the US Legal General Counsel team, is responsible for indirect procurement agreements, supporting the purchase of indirect goods and services, drafting and negotiation, and ensuring compliance with laws and Lam’s corporate polices. Responsibilities for the position we are seeking to fill include: Negotiate, prepare, and draft complex commercial leases (office and light industrial manufacturing), construction, gas and energy, warehousing, logistics, and other indirect materials and services purchasing agreements Advise business units to achieve business objectives while protecting Lam’s confidential information and intellectual property rights Provide strategic and transaction support and partnership to management and operations in support of company vision and other objectives Contribute to and assist in developing and delivering training, communications, playbooks, contract templates, and processes and procedures for providing effective and efficient legal support Provide timely and effective legal advice on a wide variety of corporate and commercial legal issues, including but not limited to commercial law, commercial real estate, construction, intellectual property, data security, data privacy, antitrust law, ethics and compliance, environmental, health and safety, and product safety Provide timely general legal support as assigned Monitor and communicate legal developments and follow up or escalate as applicable to ensure business has process to comply Interpret and communicate requirements to business units under identified company policies Domestic and international travel may be required

Requirements

  • Demonstrated expert knowledge and command of commercial law, with a minimum of four years practice in a US state preferably in either a law firm or in a responsible in-house position
  • Demonstrated experience and strength with contract drafting and negotiation across a wide spectrum of indirect procurement, including in the areas of consulting, construction, real estate, software, contingent workforce, and data protection
  • Experience as a highly effective team player who can implement a shared vision, energize others, challenge the status quo and drive change within the organizations
  • Strong process experience & orientation organized and results-oriented
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills, and the ability to discuss and explain complex technical and legal matters with legal and non-legal business partners/stakeholders
  • Strong acumen to create high quality documents--similar skills in Chinese, Korean or Japanese language would be a plus
  • Ability to work successfully across time zones and cultures to support significant international operations and coordinate with remote resources
  • Experience in partnering successfully with other business groups to achieve corporate objectives
  • Successfully worked in a highly matrixed environment
  • Significant experience in balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Worked independently with limited supervision
  • Demonstrated to be creative, innovative, accessible and approachable
  • Considerable ability to work hard and be nice while exercising influence and authority when appropriate; must play well with others. A good sense of humor will certainly help.
  • J.D. or equivalent from a top law school
  • Bar membership; Oregon or California bar membership preferred

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of experience, including experience providing legal support for a multinational company
  • Strong contracts, process experience, and ethics and compliance knowledge
  • Background or experience in the semiconductor equipment and/or semiconductor industry is a plus
  • Technical or engineering background is a plus
  • Ability to work in a digitized environment (such as contract authoring tools, contract lifecycle management system, and etc. )
  • Candidates of diverse backgrounds encouraged Requires a law degree.
