Slate is seeking a servant-minded Corporate Controller who leads with integrity, collaboration, and accountability. You combine technical excellence with a people-first approach—building strong teams, improving processes, and ensuring financial accuracy and compliance. As a trusted partner to the CFO, you’ll guide all accounting and control activities while fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including accounting roles within public companies, specifically involved with external reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workiva, Adaptive Insights) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting and control activities, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Direct the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), SEC filings, and other relevant regulations for public companies.
  • Design, implement, and monitor robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Oversee the completion of general ledger activities leveraging existing and emerging technology that supports timeliness, speed and efficiency of all accounting activities.
  • Lead the technical accounting determination and documentation process.
  • Act as the primary liaison with external auditors; manage annual audit and quarterly reviews, addressing all audit findings and recommendations.
  • Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis group to support management decisions, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise accounting staff, fostering professional development and ensuring high performance leveraging a Servant Leadership mindset.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process automation using AI tools as well as other refinements to improve the accuracy, quality and efficiency within the Finance organization.
  • Work closely with other departments (Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Operations & C-suite) to ensure integrated financial management and compliance.
