The Corporate Controller at Bridgeway is a pivotal role that requires a highly skilled individual with extensive accounting experience, strong business acumen, and effective communication and analytical skills. This position will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other leaders within the organization to ensure that the systems and processes are designed to produce accurate, timely, and complete financial information. This information is crucial for executives, investors, and lenders, and the Corporate Controller will play a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting and compliance. In this role, the Corporate Controller will oversee the accounting department's monthly closing procedures, which includes organizing staff workflows, monitoring team progress according to deadlines, and reviewing the completeness and quality of the staff's accounting work. The position also entails oversight of annual audit activities with external auditors, including preparing for PBCs, responding to information requests, managing tax provisions, and drafting financial statements. Additionally, the Corporate Controller will oversee credit and collection department activities, considering the use of offshore resources to enhance efficiency. Treasury management is another critical aspect of this role, where the Corporate Controller will manage cash management, cash applications, and accounts payable functions. The position requires providing leadership in process automation and efficiency improvement efforts, which may involve partnering with IT to design and maintain proprietary applications and evaluating or maintaining purchased software solutions. Furthermore, the Corporate Controller will coordinate all departmental tax payment and compliance activities, ensuring timely filing and payment of state corporate income taxes, sales and use taxes, property taxes, and other operating taxes. The Corporate Controller will also be responsible for developing staff through coaching and mentoring activities, instilling accountability through performance measurement in the context of defined goals and objectives, and executing effective performance redirection when necessary. The role includes coordinating ad-hoc projects and activities as needed or as requested by the CFO, and it requires effective communication with co-workers, management, and other stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.
