About The Position

The Corporate Attorney III position is a remote role that involves handling moderately complex legal assignments and projects with minimal supervision. The attorney will interact significantly with product and general manager-level executives, conducting legal research and drafting various legal documents. The role requires expertise in complaint handling, state reporting, and customer filings, along with the ability to manage miscellaneous regulatory matters as assigned. The attorney will be responsible for analyzing, reviewing, drafting, and editing legal documents and memorandums for senior attorneys and the business, including complaints from customers, the department of insurance, and the Better Business Bureau. In this position, the attorney will receive complaints from external parties through the Consumer Relation Team, which determines the deadlines and the appropriate legal response. The attorney will need to spot legal issues within these complaints and coordinate with other experts as necessary. The volume of complaints is high, and the attorney will be tasked with managing all incoming complaints. The ideal candidate will have experience in the insurance or financial industry, as these sectors are highly regulated. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as the attorney will need to convey complex legal information clearly and effectively. The attorney will work independently but will collaborate with a team of three attorneys and other legal professionals on claims and corporate matters. Weekly meetings will be held to discuss challenges and progress. Performance will be measured through customer feedback and observations from colleagues. The role requires a Juris Doctorate and an active license to practice law in the relevant state, along with a minimum of five years of post-degree legal practice experience. The attorney must also possess their own Professional Liability insurance with a minimum limit of $1 million.
