About The Position

The members of the accounting job family ensure that Cavco’s financial books and records are appropriately maintained in a timely and accurate manner. They maintain the chart of accounts, general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers. They process accounts receivables and accounts payable as well as maintain lists of authorized vendors. The accounting group works directly with the external auditors and financial reporting to ensure GAAP and SEC compliance. The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for a team of 2 or more accounting clerks helping to maintain portions of Cavco’s books and record in accordance with GAAP and Cavco accounting policies. This role retains complete accountability for execution and continuous improvement of a business process and development and coaching of the team responsible for that process. The Accounting Supervisor is accountable for mapping, documenting, reengineering, quality assurance, staffing, metrics, controls, risk identification, and service level expectations. The majority of this role’s effort is spent supervising two or more employees and managing overall team expectations. An accounting degree is not required for this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive experience managing an accounting department or in a similar role, preferably with 2+ years in management
  • Understanding of US GAAP and accrual accounting
  • Financial reporting experience
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Experience with financial accounting software (e.g., Blackline)
  • Proven track record of successfully managing staff and developing accounting processes
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Advanced Excel – pivot tables, vlookups, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including AP, AR, and general accounting.
  • Manage, coach, and develop accounting staff
  • Assist the Controller with the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Support external audit process to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit
  • Support management on analyses, workflow process improvements and ad hoc projects
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing, recommending, and following policies and procedures
  • Ensure government compliance with all department tasks.
