Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting or related field from an accredited four-year college or university required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years accounting experience required.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience leading a team of accounting personnel preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ auditing experience in public accounting preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to function well and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize issues, tasks, responsibilities, requests depending on urgency to meet strict deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA license or pursuit of CPA license preferred.
  • Timberline, Intacct, Yardi or other GL accounting system software knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Power BI or other data analytics tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees financial and accounting operations for EHS corporate entities, including month-end and year-end close processes, and comprehensive cash management activities (including, but not limited to, wire transfers, deposits, bank draws, reconciliations, projections, job costing, and receivables).
  • Supervises remote Staff Accountant providing guidance, training, performance evaluation, goal setting and enforcement of company policies and procedures. Position will require additional supervisory responsibilities as the organization grows
  • Oversee and coordinates annual filings as necessary, including but not limited to 1099s.
  • Assess current and future staffing needs based on workload, team performance, and business growth.
  • Oversees and assists with the onboarding of new team members, including assigning training resources to help new team members integrate smoothly.
  • Compiles financial information and prepares journal entries to produce accrual and cash based monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital.
  • Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position.
  • Performs timely, comprehensive cash management activities (including, but not limited to, wire transfers, deposits, bank draws, reconciliations, projections, job costing, and receivables).
  • Reviews accounts payable activity, including invoices, contracts and vouchers for accuracy; Ensures timely payments of real estate taxes, mortgages, utilities, etc.
  • Deliver timely and accurate financial information to EHS leadership.
  • Proactively communicate status updates, process/system issues, and team activities to the Vice President, Accounting and Finance, Hospitality.
  • Analyze financial reports to interpret and summarize financial positions for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drives continuous process improvement including streamlining processes, researching, developing and implementing best practices for accounting procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist in preparation of annual corporate budget.
  • Ensures compliance with financial reporting requirements and company procedures.
  • Work with hotel accounting teams to ensure timely receipt of allocated costs and management fees.
  • Perform timely reconciliation of management & incentive management fee calculations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the Extell family of companies including but not limited to development, operations, hospitality and finance
  • Other duties, as assigned.
