As a member of the company's tax team, the Corporate Tax Accountant is responsible for recording and documenting income and deferred tax journal entries and assisting with the filing of the company’s tax returns and tax compliance for our legal entities and operating partnership. This position requires a motivated professional with strong communication skills and a positive, problem-solving attitude. This person should have extensive tax technical knowledge and the ability to interact with all levels of management throughout the company.

  • Record and document income tax and deferred tax monthly journal entries timely and accurately, in accordance with GAAP and in a method consistent with company policies
  • Support the corporate accounting department by preparing monthly reconciliation of tax balance sheet accounts under supervision of VP, Tax
  • Contact federal, state, and local taxing authorities to resolve various tax notices and issues
  • Review and prepare tax payment vouchers and tax return mailings
  • Prepare tax returns for partnership entities for review by VP, Tax
  • Maintain up-to-date taxable income estimates and projections to be reviewed by VP, Tax
  • Prepare quarterly REIT tests and help maintain REIT compliance under supervision of VP, Tax
  • Review tax basis and attributes of fixed assets, including 721 contributions and 1031 exchanges
  • Assist with any state, local or federal tax examinations and audits
  • Interface with limited partners throughout the K-1 distribution and composite filing process
  • Other indirect tax support, specifically for real and personal property taxes.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Tax or Accounting is required
  • 1-3 years of tax or accounting experience at a CPA firm or tax experience at another company
  • Knowledge of Excel functions is required

  • Well-organized, analytical, professional with diligent attention to detail, with an
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects in partnership with individuals at all levels within and outside of the organization.
  • Certified Public Accountant certification or eligibility is a plus
  • Experience with tax preparation software is a plus
  • Experience with a public company is a plus
  • Experience in partnership tax accounting and real estate accounting is a plus
